So this week is going on full throttle! As i was preparing this new entry I had to make sure if i didn’t forget a community update between the last one and today. And I am still in shock to find out that i didn’t miss – a lot did happen this past week.
The great battle of Troy…
So far the feedback we collect was good, this is highly rewarding to all of us to see the things were are doing to receive a positive feedback, so please keep it coming! But this doesn’t mean we didn’t receive any critics, these are also good because it helps us to understand what other things our communities wish for and plan better for the future.
The browser version rolled out to all communities
So last week I introduced you to the overall make over of our advisors and we are all happy to know that the graphics were liked by our players.
But this was not the only change, we also fixed several bugs. However the most important work last cycle was the implementation of SSL. Using SSL is a norm in the internet to protect the connection between “visitor” (player) and the “site” (game), I was quite shocked to know how hard it is to add a “S” to HTTP(S).
This change also means that by the end of march, Grepolis will be working inside a SSL context that means all resources that you use in the game, scripts images, and such have to be also in an SSL (https) context or they will not load.
The mobile version
This past week we received very useful feedback for the app, from things that are broken and possible amazing new features. Our team is already working on them, but they have a request to our app users: please send us more suggestion – we love feedback!

See you next week!
I would appreciate an extension on the Troy game. It would be better to allow people to start such events when they are ready (although do it as many times as anyone else is allowed to do it). New players (in the just started the world sense) cannot take full advantage of this to quite the same degree…
Hi,
interesting ideas. From a players perspective I would agree. The player could have e.g. 2 weeks until he has to start the event. The problem with this idea is, that we need the fixed start/end date in order to put some pressure on the paying players. Furthermore cooperative/competitive features like the ranking system that we used in the Easter event would not work anymore.
In these kind of event where in-game actions cause item drops, smaller players have higher chances to find stuff than bigger ones.
Just to give you some insights: For a player with less than 10k points the chance to find an event item is twice as big as for a player with >30k points. And there is a smooth transition in between. Small players with only one town should still be able to get all 10 items dropped each day.
