Island Quest Update

Hello!

My name is Andreas and I am a former Game Designer of Grepolis. Today I will give you an overview about the upcoming changes to the Island Quests that I have come up with.

In the first update we will release a rebalancing of the challenges and rewards associated with the Island Quests. The goal is to make them more interesting in the mid and late game.

As an example, the archer reinforcement reward from the Island Quests will be influenced by the world’s speed and your personal progress. This means that it will generate as many archers as the archer reinforcement you know from events. However, to receive this reward, you will have to complete more challenging tasks – pay more resources or defeat more enemies.

We will also add a fourth level to the personal progress, to better integrate players with more than 250k points. On this level you will only get two island quests per day and they will be really difficult to complete, but also give out valuable rewards. These changes will be put on beta for a longer period of time so we can collect feedback, and balance them if needed before they go live.

In addition to that we wanted to remove potential blockers. As there were quests where you either had to attack or support with land units, none of the tasks could be performed with a city full of ships. We will rework these quests and give them at least one objective that can be completed without land units.

We also think it should be allowed to finish Island Quests using mythical units, so in the future it will be possible to send them on dispatch tasks. To accomplish this, the dispatch task will take the total population of the sent units into account, not only the pure amount.

Last but not least, to enable you to buy and level all the new heroes we implemented recently, we decided to scale the Hero Coin rewards from Island Quests with the world’s speed. So on a world with World Speed 3, you will get three times more coins per Island Quest.

We also plan to implement the following changes in future updates:

  • After login, Island Quests will also be available if you have been offline for a longer period of time, so you don’t have to wait several hours to get one.
  • The Island Quests will be put into your quest log, together with the regular quests, to have all kinds of quests conveniently located in one menu.
  • We will add new Island Quests with new unique monsters to defeat.

That’s it for now. Please let us know what you think of these changes in the comments below.

Enjoy the game!

I very appreciated especially this. Considering their cost in coins and avaiability of that coins, heroes are only minor feature which could get change. I hope that better avaiability of coins will boost their impact in the game.

But slower worlds cant get the coins nearly as fast, so why would faster worlds get even more availability?

    • Nils U. says:

      Hi Vol’jin,
we want to increase the amount of coins according to the worldspeed because your empire grows faster. This means you have more cities earlier and have more capacities and need to use more heroes, much earlier.
So it makes sense that you get more coins on those worlds enabling you to get those heroes and level them up as quickly.
      Cheers
