Community update: week 11 & 12

Hey everyone,

Welcome back to our bi-weekly community update.

This time, you’re seeing a rather short version outside of the game version recap as we have more posts coming up early next week. So without further ado, let’s get to business and keep you all informed about what is currently going on!

Player Council term 2

The first term of the Grepolis Player Council is officially ending on March 31.

We are already in preparations for the elections for the second term and will soon make the respective announcements on our community forums. We will also publish a summary of the results of the first Player Council term on the DevBlog soon, so stay tuned for more news on this project.

v2.159

Browser version 2.159 was released this week. At the same time we sent off the submission for version 2.159 of the mobile app and are awaiting approval from Apple.

On browser, we implemented a smaller change, focusing on readability of menus. In the farming village overview, you can now separate islands and cities more easily as islands have a different background color.

Additionally, we took care of some frequent issues with 3rd party scripts in an attempt to lower the amount of script related bug reports. These changes to the frontend of the game should ensure that most interface elements stay in their designated positions even if parts of the custom scripts don’t work after a game update. We still don’t support custom scripts and can’t avoid all issues associated with their use, but hope to alleviate the pain of some frequent issues reported with these scripts.

The mobile app, on the other hand, is getting the change you have all been waiting for! As soon as the new version becomes available in the stores, you will finally be able to share live conquest reports with other players, see the reports they shared in messages or the forums and adjust the sharing options of this report types while using the app. This change was heavily inspired by and pushed live as early as possible due to Player Council feedback.

Next version preview

The development sprint for version 2.160 ends this week.

This version comes with a small balancing adjustment for Medea & Telemachos. Instead of having a 1% increase of their effect with every hero level-up, they will now have an increase of +1.5% per level. On user interface side, we added the display of the chances of winning prizes for our wheel of fortune events and changed the handling of images to ensure higher security levels when handling external content.

Following player suggestions, we enable everyone to hide the confirmation prompt about wanting to attack their own alliance members. We know this prompt could be a real nuisance in certain situations and you can now disable the warning from the options menu. For new players, we implemented a system showing highlights on areas affected by God spells, showing for instance that Artemis’ “Nature’s Gift” spell adds stone to the resource balance. These animations can also be turned off from the options menu.

Furthermore, we kicked off the preparations for our new Domination endgame by adding first adjustments to the way battle points are calculated when attacking own or alliance members’ units.

The current update schedule for v2.160 is as follows:

Tuesday, April 3: NL, SE and SK market
Wednesday, April 4: international roll-out

The update will be available for testing before the official update on our beta servers. Please follow the daily changelogs to learn more about our daily updates!
