So last week we had several community managers here in the office, and the team got to brainstorm and also listen carefully to our communities concerns and complains.
From this meeting and with self-aware of our past mistakes, we decided together to make some changes, one of them is that we will no longer be publishing the Roadmap. We have come to this conclusion from the past years making so many promises of features and developments that we thought and wished to do that never made into production. Ultimately this lead to our gamers to be disappointed in us. Our goal is to provide the best gaming experience possible and achieve this with a realist view of our human capacity. A revamp of the World Wonders or the “end game” is something that we want to do and will always try to get it out, but the when remain uncertain.
We also took a hard look into the past and the feedback provided, specially to “we don’t want this, you should fix that bug that has been around for ages” – every one on the team agreed that very old bugs will get a higher priority, but it was also noted that some bugs are almost impossible to fix at this time, however the discussion lead to a new form of communication into the future.
We all agreed to keep you, our gamers, our fans, the people we work for more in the loop, either if there is a bug to hard to fix as also what we have been working on. So from now on, instead of a roadmap that you need to keep waiting we will, when possible publish a retrospective of the teams work. Keep in mind that to keep the surprise factor we can say within what timeframe this will be happening.
So about this past week…
Right now what we have been mostly working on is a smooth transaction from vBulletin to XenForo in our community forums, although not everything is going perfect we expect to concluded the process very quickly and have everything running better than ever.
