Community Update: week 27 & 28

Dear Community,

Welcome to our bi-weekly community update. Here is everything you need to know for calendar weeks 27 and 28.

Community-driven development

Grepolis has been around for almost 8 years now, thanks to our loyal and passionate community! With your constant feedback and suggestions, we have been able to implement a lot of features that make your lives easier and better.

You may be aware that we already have a proven approach to include at least one community suggestion per update, to manage the ever-increasing number of valid ideas for the game. Oftentimes we even get to add more. The next version alone includes 3 changes that stem from community feedback.

In the upcoming months we would like to attempt to expand on this proven strategy by offering another possibility for our players to provide us with valuable feedback on all things Grepolis. Keep your eyes open for our official announcement that is soon to come!

v2.142

This Tuesday and Wednesday we updated to browser version 2.142 for all live worlds. The mobile update followed today.

The main focus of this update was to improve the comprehensibility of different unit types in the game. In order to achieve this, we introduced new unit icons which indicate whether a unit is a land or naval unit, a regular or mythical unit and a defensive, offensive or hybrid type. Additionally we reworked existing icons for defensive unit stats to give more clear indications as to what each value stands for (armor items have been replaced with shields and weapons of the respective weapon type). Furthermore we introduced 4 new icons for special abilities that certain units may possess; this includes flying units, wall destruction, self destruction and colonization.

A second topic for this version were hero slots. When restarting on a game world, you lose all unlocked hero slots. However, you keep all heroes you have unlocked on this world previously. This caused some frustration in the past as new slots could be obtained with premium but would already be occupied by these existing heroes. Now it is possible to purchase additional slots even if the designated slot would have already been taken by a hero in your posession.

Finally this version fixed several issues with our new city foundation screen in the browser version and introduced these new screens for the app version.

Next version preview

In version 2.143 we prepared some smaller visible changes while making preparations for next in-game events.

First of all we added a button to mark all messages or reports as read in the selected folders with just one click of a button. Next we made texts in offer screens scrollable. A lot of languages tend to have longer words and formulations than our main development languages English and German, which could sometimes cause texts to overlap select screens. Texts on offer screens can soon be scrolled if they would not fit the window otherwise.

Last but not least the event icon of Grepolisscore was adjusted to match other categories better and not look as dull.

The current update schedule for v2.143 is as follows:

Tuesday, June 25th: NL, SE and SK market
Wednesday, June 26th: international roll-out

As per usual, you can already test these changes in advance on all our public beta worlds on zz.grepolis.com. Follow the daily changelogs to see when they become available and let us know what you think!

Hi, could you revise a tutorial quest which requires to have 10 slingers? After the bandit camp have got implemented, the quest requires no action to perform as it gets automatically fulfilled – thanks to bandit camp rewards you have always more than 10 slingers in that game stage. 😉

Hi Thass, we can revise it, yes, but I don’t think this is a priority right now. It does not influence a lot in the early game for bad of good so I will add it to our list but we have other plans right now. Thanks for the feedback. 😀

I understand it’s just a detail (a very early game stage quest which represents no challenge). I think a change could be simple – currently it counts all slingers – after, it could count only recruited slingers. 🙂
