Community update: week 45 & 46

Hello there,

It’s time for another issue of our bi-weekly community update. Here are all the community news!

Player Council event & upcoming summary

On November 3rd we had the pleasure to chat with 5 Inner Council members during a 90 minute Skype call.

Several things were discussed and their summary of this call will soon be ready to be published.

Wiki update

Next week, we will be updating our wiki software to the latest version, which comes with a lot of usability and security improvements. Unfortunately this update also means that we will have to part with our classic wiki skin because it is no longer supported due to significant changes in the user interface.

The wiki update is currently scheduled to take place on November 21st and will be accompanied by a longer downtime for additional technical upgrades and migration purposes. As soon as that is done, you will be greeted with the new design, as displayed in this mockup:

v2.151

The update to browser version 2.151 took place this week and the mobile app has been submitted for release. As soon as we get the approval from Apple, we will release this new version which will unfortunately no longer support iOS versions below iOS 9.

For the browser version, we continued the work on the command menu refactoring and honored two requests that we received from the community.

The first request was to add a preview of the amount of population used for units and Unit Reinforcement effects. The population these units are going to use is now stated in the respective tooltips and should make planning a lot easier.

The second request also aims to facilitate the planning of future actions. In the farming village overview, resource projections for the selected timing are now also displayed, even while the collection is still on cooldown. Previously only +0 resources were shown, but now you can plan ahead on the next resource collection and now exactly how many resources you will get for the selected option.

Next version preview

The development work for the sprint to version 2.152 was finished this week.

In 2.152 we touched a lot of topics, from moving the spell selection menu from below the favor display to next to the selected God for more convenience, to disabling the effect of non-attackable bans on world wonder islands. The latter was unfortunately necessary because non-attackable bans could be used to block and thus protect wonders while vacation and morale no longer have such a blocking effect.

Furthermore we changed the way that e-mail validation links work. These are now single use only and may not be used to log in to the game more conveniently from your e-mail inbox. Additionally we adjusted the prizes and chances associated with them for Tyche’s Calendar, our annual Winter event, that will be starting in December and reworked the peace time setup tool for our Community Managers, looking to improve the process for the peace time(s) scheduled for the holiday season.

For additional information on all of these topics, please keep your eyes peeled for the update changelog that is going to be published next week.

The current update schedule for v2.152 is as follows:

Tuesday, November 28th: NL, SE and SK market
Wednesday, November 29th: international roll-out

As always, you can already start testing most of the new features on our beta servers.
